I heard much good things about Recipes, so I finally decided to try it. First off the decor is pleasant, white table cloths and a rose on the table. The staff was super attentive too. The coffee was really good. That's the good. The omelets were really heavy and not that flavorful, I was hugely disappointed with what looks like frozen potatoes chunks. They looked processed and tasted processed. If you want me to consider you a cut above breakfast spot, please don't serve me anything that's not fresh, and if you do, it better be cheap. With a name like Recipes you'd expect fresh goodness, maybe the rest of the menu is but for breakfast they failed.

I was back in town over the holidays and a couple of friends and I decided to stop in here for breakfast after a night out. The decor and ambience is really nice. Very clean and yet casual and comfortable. Our waitress was also very nice and did a great job overall. I was expecting the typical breakfast fare but was surprised to see some Asian items on the menu as well, the menu is actually quite diverse. My girlfriend ordered the California Roll Omelet and I got the Asian Sensation. I have to say that I was really impressed, our food was excellent, everything very tasty and fresh. This place is a diamond in the rough, I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in town.

I've been meaning to get here for awhile hearing all sorts of mixed reviews so I brought a friend for dinner. When we arrived around 6 on a Wednesday it was completely empty which isn't always a bad sign. We were greeted with a big smile from the hostess, Christina. She sat us, brought us water straight away and took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. I'm guessing that Christina had the intuition to give us a little time to catch up so she patiently waited to come back for our food order. Service, and by that I mean Christina, was very good. Aside from that, I was disappointed. First off, there was food on our tablecloth before we sat down, no worries though. The food was, meh, at best! We started with the spring rolls and crab cakes. The rolls were very crispy and a little oily as you'd expect but the filling while toothsome and meaty had very little actual flavor to them. The dipping sauce was a needed addition. The crab cakes were made from shredded crab and they had a large dice peppers and onions in them which I'm personally not a fan of. They tasted, again, ok and were served on a bed of dressed spinach which was a little wilty. For the mains, we ordered the Mandarin Chicken and I had the Chicken Scallopine. The Mandarin Chicken was crispy and the sauce was nice, all served along white rice. The Scallopine came in a large bowled portion with several medallions over Angel hair. I haven't had scallopine before so based on flavor profile alone, it was sadly, very bland and very very rich. The chicken was cooked perfectly but the sauce had a bit too much finishing butter in it which made it overly silky. Honestly, some good quality fresh parmigiano sprinkled on top of the pasta would've saved this dish. I get that this is more of a brunch spot that started branching out to include dinner about two years ago. But the dinner menu here is a little odd lacking any real fluidity. All the apps (all three) are Asian inspired as is a good portion of the menu. From there you've got several Italian pasta dishes, a few grilled items like Glazed Salmon and a couple Mexicali dishes like Tequila Chicken and Fish Tacos to balance against the list of salads and sandwiches offered. It's just not a cohesive mix of "Recipes" but I'm probably over thinking it. It is BYOB as they serve no alcohol here but Christina did offer us wine or beer glasses in the event that we return with our own bottle. It sounds like this spot should continue on as a breakfast joint, which has given it some of it's better reviews, and maybe extend it's brunch menu. Unfortunately I wasn't blown away by its evening menu. That aside, the prices are inexpensive with the priciest item being the Pistachio Crusted Chicken at $14, portions are good size and the food was brought out very quickly.

Between Breakfast Club and Recipes, I prefer the former. The atmosphere is very cozy, and the servers are friendly. But the food is just ok. My artichoke eggs benedict had artichokes from a can or jar. I would serve this at home, but it seems like a professional kitchen should stick to fresh ingredients only (i.e. if they're not fresh artichokes, don't serve artichokes at all). The egg was nicely poached, though.

Loved this place! Fresh ingredients, cooked and presented perfectly, creative flavor combinations, cozy and airy atmosphere, super reasonable prices, great portions, very attentive service. I appreciate the attention to detail within the meal, but also ambiance (bird feeder outside our window, real rose in the vase, etc). So happy to find a quality local spot! Will be back often!

Restaurants you frequent really are a lot like friends. There's your group of besties, who will stay in contact with forever. Then, there's the secondary group who serve a purpose for a set period of time and disappear after that. Recipes falls into the second category. It's a decent enough place for now, but when the lady and I leave Farmington Hills behind, we'll never think twice about it. The food is okay, and it's the right distance from where we live that it's always a viable option if we wake up and crave a big breakfast we don't want to make. But the menu isn't quite innovative enough to keep us coming back for more. My favorite thing on the menu is the Bandito Skillet. It has a good flavor to it, but for a dish with chorizo, salsa and green chilies it should have more of a kick. The woman has definitely had worse seafood benedicts than the one here. But she's also had better ones. Still, she orders it because that's her breakfast of choice. Even at its best, Recipes is imminently forgettable. If you live, work or are planning a visit to Farmington Hills, Recipes is a very solid choice. But there are better uses of gas if you're coming from any further than ten minutes away.

Chicken Spinach Pesto was pretty good with good portions and quality ingredients. Service was speedy and efficient, perfect for a quick lunch!

Their breakfast is second to none. My girlfriend and I stopped in; she had the granola almond pancakes and I had the Big One omelet. The service alone is a reason to come back, but the food is why we keep coming back for more. Prepared quickly and with the highest quality ingredients, it is a beautiful melody to my pallet. Their selection of teas to complement each meal is endless. If you're a breakfast fanatic like we are, you need to stop in at least once here. It'll leave an impression on you that will never recede.

Had gone to the one in Troy and it was so good!! living out in Novi, i was THRILLED they opened one in Farmington Hills, just right down the street from me! I stopped in with a friend and had the most amazing meal. I ordered the Seafood Benedict with the crab meat and every bite was so delightful i ate everything, including the spuds and the cinnamon apples. i highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great brunch place that isn't a Coney Island nor a big chain restaurant.

I was there on Sunday and had a great time...my guest was awesome (so that helps) BUT "Recipes" was PERFECT for what we wanted. A quaint place for 2 friends to have a good brunch and catch up. The service was good/quick. We arrived at 1...so any AM rush was probably gone by then. BUT unbeknownst to us they close at 3 on Sunday...so we chatted until we finally noticed that it was very quiet and empty...they had began setting up for an event and didn't even bother us..just worked around us...LOL Food was good..I had the sunday mor which was an incredible yogurt, fruit and granola concoction and my guest had Cinnamon French Toast. Coffee was pretty standard for a resturant you don't expect a Starbucks quality brew..whereas it would be RAVED about if you ever did..:)

Recipes is only open for breakfast and lunch but it's well worth making the effort to get there. It's in a strip mall at the SE corner of Grand River and Haggerty and not very exciting from the outside but inside is really cute with white linen table clothes and fresh flowers on the tables. They've only been open for a couple of months so word hasn't gotten out yet and there were only 4 tables occupied when we got there. Support a new local business and try it. Wait until you see the menu! Just too much to choose from because it all looked so good. I got the Spanish omelet and it was fantastic. It came with fried potatoes, which were a little bland but nice and crisp, and choice of English muffin or toast. My friend had a warm ham sandwich that was piled high and came from fries. Next time I'm getting the French toast that a neighboring table ordered and I was drooling over. Did I mention the most expensive thing on the menu was only $11?

Kinda sad.. Walked into the Novi location. The hostess was helpful and I was seated right away. There was no one else in the place except one table. I used the restroom and it was clear that it hadn't been cleaned in a while..trash overflowing, dirt and crud on the sink, mirror, ledges and dust hanging from the ceiling above the light.. Then I walked out to the dining area and noticed food and straw wrappers on the floor at multiple vacant tables!! It was early in the day and there was no business in the place so it appeared that this stuff was left there from the night before or longer!! Anyway I didn't eat there as it just seemed to not be a clean place to eat at. Too bad too because I really like to give business to small local places!!

My hubby and I like to go out for a nice breakfast once every few months, so today we tried Recipes instead of battling the expected crowd at Gest Omelettes. We chose Recipes mainly because of it's location and after reading the reviews on my Yelp app, figured it was worth a try. The atmosphere is really quite nice. The decor is upscale and we happened to get sat at a wonderful table right in the front corner by the windows. It was the perfect spot and we didn't have to wait at all. I was apprehensive before we got there because it was around 12:30pm and I figured the church crowd would be there. Most of the tables were full, but there was zero wait. The hostess was very nice, but our waitress wasn't overly enthusiastic or friendly. It wasn't that she wasn't nice, but she just seemed bland. We could have gone without the paper over the nice linen tablecloth. The wait for the food took longer than expected. It didn't seem too busy to constitute the 20 minute wait for our food to come out. I enjoyed a ham, cheese & green pepper omelet and my husband had the french toast. He much preferred both entrees at Gest and said he wouldn't go back. I was happier with the decor and pleasant ambiance and would try it again since the food seemed just fine to me. The omelet wasn't as large as the one at Gest, but for me that was perfect because I didn't feel like I was wasting my money, (I can never finish my meal at Gest). I can certainly say that I wasn't super impressed by the food, but I was impressed by the interior of the restaurant since I have never been in this overly deserted strip mall.

I really wanted to love this place, but it didn't happen. Pros: Cute dining room, tablecloths and cloth napkins, very good service and presentation of food is nicely done. Cons: Everything just tasted 'ok'. Nothing knocking my socks off and for $9 for a breakfast dish, you should kind of expect your socks and maybe even your hat to blow off. I had the spinach and mushroom omelet and the mushrooms were canned. Blah. Potatoes were too salty, too hard. Also they don't use real butter on the toast. My younger son's pancakes were cute, but nothing special as far as taste goes. Husband and teen ate their meals, but again, were not blown away. If this were a family diner with cheapo prices, I'd give it a 3.5. But it's not. It's sort of on the fancy side for breakfast and the prices are on the high side for breakfast as well...so I expected more. We might come back and try lunch sometime, but only if we are in the area and hungry. We drove a half hour to come here, not worth the drive or the $4/gallon for the trip, sadly.

What a cool place for breakfast/brunch! When I saw the menu my palate started drooling. Who doesn't enjoy a restaurant that puts that kind of effort into making a fun and eclectic menu?! I went here on a Sunday morning after church (early service), and had no wait. The tables are a little close together so expect the neighbors behind you to bump into your chair or ask to get out. But that is no big deal, it makes you feel at home and comfy. The decor of the restaurant has a warm touch, and makes you want to eat the breakfast food. I ordered the Le Saumon Omelet, and what a great choice that was! The omelet was stuffed with freshly cooked salmon, cream cheese, red onions, and don't forget the capers! The omelet was accompanied by small fried potatoes, and a delicious rye toast. I ordered everything just the way I liked it, and it all came out perfect and in a very timely fashion. I will definitely going back again soon to this restaurant, there was so many things I wanted to try. I know now they serve dinner, but I am content with trying their awesome breakfast menu! Oh and one more thing....service was awesome. Our servers name was Jamie. I remember that because she wrote it down on our butcher's paper table cloth. She was cheerful, eager to please us, and efficient. Having a happy server is definitely a great way to enjoy your breakfast!

yummm....breakfast! Mornings are always made better with a lovely brunch either at home or out. But Sunday mornings are made for going out for a nice brunch! Recipes was always on my list of to-try places ever since I saw that they opened up a location in Farmington. With a recent Groupon offer, it was the perfect time to try out their morning fare. Like many brunch places on Sunday mornings, there was that obligatory 20 minute wait. So I took a twenty minute walk around the closed up plaza. When I returned, I was quickly seated and began examining the menu. Prices seemed fair for a regular brunch place. A lot of the selection seemed unique and the sweet breakfasts looked sinfully delicious (based on what I saw other tables eating). I opted for the california roll omelet, which I requested egg whites only. It comes with avocado, cucumber and cream cheese inside and is topped with seaweed garnish. The omelet itself was pretty good, the ingriedents were fresh, the avocado definitely made the omelet. Just like its namesake sushi roll, Recipes did OD on the cream cheese, I was scraping off excess cream cheese the whole time. The breakfast potatoes were nice and crispy, but seems like just the kind I would get from the Ore Ida freezer section. Coffee was fantastic though...mmm, warm elixir of Sunday mornings, it definitely made the meal. Ok, the experience would mostly been a four star experience; good omelet, amazing coffee, cute surroundings. I have to take a star off for the awkward service we received. First, the servers do that tacky thing of writing their name on crayon on the paper table mat. Its tacky at Macaroni Grill, and its hella tacky at a cute breakfast place. Secondly, when my guy got the wrong toast, she didn't take the plate back to the kitchen, instead, she reaches over him, picks up the toast with her fingers and carries it back to the kitchen. Thankfully, the right toast was brought out on a plate. It just seemed weird, I know they won't reuse that toast no matter what, but fingers in my or my guy;s plate (in front of me) don't seem appetizing at all. Servers, you definitely can give me your input, since, sadly, my food service experience began and ended at a frozen yogurt place. The whole exchange seemed weird with our server, it was like she didn't have her coffee yet or just wasn't friendly enough to care. So, overall, this place is cute, I definitely did appreciate the menu selections and will probably return but I will know I will be hoping for a less awkward server next time.

What a great little eclectic place to grab breakfast or lunch! Service is fast and friendly, coffee was robust and delicious, and my salmon/egg white omelet was perfectly cooked! I'll definitely be back to sample more of the offerings on the menu.

I really wanted to like this place, but the food and atmosphere were both unpleasant. Someone was even interviewing a waitress within our earshot as we had lunch. Had an omelet--something that should be hard to mess up--that was truly lousy and overpriced. This visit was in spring of 2010. I noticed that this review was filtered out. It was authentic! We have been afraid to come back, since.

This is a great restaurant for breakfast and brunch. has a little upscale feel to it but it feels fresh compared to some diners which hasn't been redecorated since the 80s. The menu is quite extensive, even if you don't want breakfast you would be hard pressed not to find something else that you would like. Their coffee is quite good, better than at most diners. I ordered their biscuits & gravy. The biscuits were awesome, probably the best biscuits I've had. Moist and fluffy and good flavor. The gravy was ok, the gravy I've had while living in the South has spoiled me. I also ordered the banditos skillet. Wonderful flavor and wonderful colors. The presentation of all the dishes were better than I've seen at most breakfast restaurants. The chorizo was really good without being too spicy. The cheese added great flavor. A great dish! I had a bite of their pancakes which were moist and really good tasting. Their ham omelet is also very good. The service was great as well, they checked on us frequently enough and making sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be back here!

Just an all around disappointing lunch. We went around 10:30 on Sunday and had a half hour wait - not bad. It's a small place, and we were seated at one of the three tables out on the sidewalk. Our server came right over and offered us drinks - there is no liquor so they offer juice, coffee and coke products. They kept the coffee filled the whole time, which was nice. The menu is huge, and I really liked the fact that you can build your own skillet - I always am picky about one ingredient. I built my own with diced tomatoes, ham, white cheddar cheese and broccoli. When it came there was no broccoli, and the cheese on top was BARELY melted. I soon found out that the only hot ingredients in the skillet were the fried cubed potatoes - the tomatoes and ham were both cold (I assume the broccoli would have been too, had it been included). You know when cheese melts and then cools off and sort of separates? Yeah that happened. I was starving so I just doused it in Franks Red Hot and didn't complain - we just didn't have the time. Joe got a hash, and I always get a little irked when a hash isn't made with hashbrowns... potatoes just don't always cut it. He said it was good, but the chorizo was a little off-tasting. All in all it was fine, and the tab for two drinks and two meals was just about $30, so it was whatever. I probably wouldn't return.

Today I went to a restaurant called the breakfast club in Farmington Hills for breakfast. There was a line outside of the restaurant waiting for seats. So I decided to try recipes which is a couple of blocks away. They also serve a good breakfast. There were a couple of spaces in the restaurant and I got seated when I walked into the restaurant. The server was friendly and professional. I decided to have one of my favorites the Classic Eggs Benedict. It also came with a little bowl of spiced cinnamon apples and fried cubed potatoes. The eggs Benedict were served on an English muffin with the slice of ham two poached eggs and of course hollandaise. The poached eggs were perfect. They were still hot in with a nice runny yolk. The English muffin could've been toasted just a little more firmly. The hollandaise did not have enough lemon for my taste so it was a little bland. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. They were done and slightly crunchy with no hint of being soggy at all. The little bowl of spiced cinnamon apples added a sweet taste to the meal. And the coffee was better than average.

I came here for breakfast recently. For a beverage, I just asked for water, which came in a glass not much larger than a shot glass. As a generally thirsty person, this was not pleasing. I ended up ordering a mixer with egg whites, cheese, and chicken. I did not ask for a side substitution as I was looking forward to the spuds, but they gave me tomato slices without asking. This was another disappointment as i'm not a fan of tomatoes, so not only was it a waste of product, but I wound up without a side. My mixer was not great. The egg whites were fluffy enough, but what ruined it was the chicken. It tasted like old chicken they cubed up and reheated. Blegh. My toast looked nice on the plate, but hidden under the top pieces were a couple obviously burnt pieces. The person I was dining with had California veggie eggs benedict. Her eggs were visibly deflated and the egg was overcooked (hard yolk in the center). Her toast was burnt as well. Overall it was an overpriced, disappointing experience. I left still hungry and in a severe state of thirst. Unfortunately I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. Not with this experience.

Great restaurant! I had this place bookmarked for quite awhile and was so glad I could finally visit! I came at about 10 on Saturday for breakfast. The menu is huge.. Maybe a little too big! They have everything you can imagine. Scrambles, omlettes, fritatas, benedicts, and everything else you can do with some eggs. They have a few non egg dishes such as hash, french toast, biscuits and gravy and a blackberry and biscuits dish (which I really want to try). I had a scramble with eggs, scallions, cream cheese and ham. In stead of potatoes I had the sliced tomatoes (which were so fresh and delicious) and an English muffin for my bread selection. There was more food than I could eat, but it was delicious. The service was very good. The hostess wasn't all that nice, but my waitress, Andrea was very accomodating! Coffee was fantastic! It came from Great Lakes Coffee. The restaurant isn't very big, so you may have to wait, but it is worth it!

I was first introduced to this place by my brother. It's a cute spot in a shopping complex. When you walk in, I get a homey, welcoming type feel - like I can expect a good meal...and that's always what I've gotten. They have lots of choose from in terms of breakfast and brunch items. They have a variety of skillets, hashes, and egg dishes. I like that I feel like I can get a good tasting meal that doesn't have to be super unhealthy and you don't have to break the bank either. I've never had a meal here that I didn't enjoy. The last time I went, I ordered the veggie egg white omelet with breakfast potatoes, wheat toast, and feta on the side. The omelet was so packed, the veggies were just busting out. I also like the size of the breakfast potatoes. I prefer cubed potatoes to shredded. They just seem meatier and more substantial. My eating companion got the apple-stuffed fresh toast. I tasted some and it was delicious! So rich, decadent, and flavorful. The whipped cream and powdered sugar were nice additions as well. If you're in the area and want a good, wholesome breakfast or brunch for a good value, you should definitely check out Recipes!

Recently I was craving Eggs Benedict, and I learned quickly that a) Livonia blows for Bennys, and b) Farmington Hills has a couple options close to each other. We made it our mission to try both Recipes and The Breakfast Club asap. Recipes was first... Recipes is more egg-centric. A couple pancake options, French Toast, Waffle, and the occasional special for those of us with a breakfast sweet tooth. Otherwise, it's all eggs, all the time. Omelets, Bennys, Mixers (where they fold ingredients into scrambled eggs), hashes, Fritatas, etc. Fried potato cubes come on the side for most eggs, but meat sides cost extra, unless you chose a combo. I've tried their Eggs Benedict (nicely cooked eggs - aka properly runny - with tasty Hollandaise) and their Recipes combination, which is huge - 2 eggs, side of meat, hash browns and two full size pancakes - but should be for $10. Ken has tried the Atlantic Mixer and their Spinach and Sprouts Omelet. He preferred the omelet, but he likely chose the wrong mixer option for his tastes. Medium sized restaurant that gets busier Sunday than Saturday. Sufficient parking. Better than average coffee. No alcohol. An interesting item on the breakfast menu is some pretty tasty Vietnamese Spring Rolls (the dinner menu includes some Vietnamese options too, so possibly Vietnamese owned?)

My hubby and I had breakfast here with my in-laws and overall it is a thumbs up. We had the French Toast Special, the Chicken Coop, and Corned Beef Hash. The Corned Beef Hash was just okay according to my hubby and father-in-law. Not enough flavor or spice for them. My mother-in-law really liked the French Toast, and I enjoyed my Chicken Coop (just scrambled eggs and potatoes-hard to mess that up). My FAVORITE however, was the side of biscuits I ordered with my breakfast. They were amazinggggg-buttery, flaky and fluffy. Just Perfect!!

The first impression was nice. Seemed like a nice upscale restaurant. Menu is a bit repetitive but ok. I kept hearing a bell being hit over and over. It was coming from the kitchen. Quite annoying, I thought we were in a nice place... Not Big Boy or Denny's. I realized right after ordering that I did not tell my waitress that I wanted my eggs scrambled. She was sweet, she went to the kitchen and I found out who the annoying bell ringer was, the cook in the kitchen. He loudly yells so all could here "of course I will change the eggs to scrambled". Then kept screaming scrambled, scrambled, scrambled. All k can say is "WOW"! I work in an establishment where the executive chef is professionally trained and with a lot more skills than this man and would never imagine anyone letting a customer hearing that sort of rant. I felt bad for the server. She ended up bringing my son's food first then mine. The food was mediocre at best. I will not go back. I wish I had waited in the line for The Breakfast Club!

I went to Recipes after reading the reviews. I got there around 11:30am on a Saturday and expected it to be busy, but I was glad to see that, while there were quite a few people there, there was no waiting. This restaurant feels a little fancier than most places known for breakfast, but it didn't feel have a snooty attitude. They still use the paper over cloth table cloths, and the waitstaff writes their name on the paper. Kind of a throwback to early times, but I liked it. They also use cloth napkins rather than paper ones, a nice touch for a breakfast restaurant. As others have commented, they have a large selection of breakfast & lunch items. I chose a special: apple pancakes with caramel sauce ($8). I did not have to wait long for my meal to arrive. However, there was a hair in it. I told the server & she offered to get me a new order, but I didn't have time to wait for another order. Besides, I figure that that happens more than we know, so I removed it & moved on. The pancakes themselves seemed rather ordinary, but the combination of the apples (actually, more of a chunky, homemade apple sauce), caramel and the whipped cream dressed it nicely. The staff was also good with coffee refills, although the coffee was a little strong for my taste. However, at $2.50, I thought it was a bit expensive. While it is a little on the expensive side, I liked the ambiance and the extensive menu choices. I will definitely consider it the next time I'm in the area.

A must go anytime I'm back in my hometown. Great tasting food at a good price! Lots of eggs dishes, we love the skillets and the eggs benedict. Be sure to get a sweet waffle or pancake off the seasonal menus and their chai. We have yet to have something that wasn't delish

My husband and I have been coming here every Sunday for the past few weeks. Everytime, we have had great meals. We actually order enough for four people. Lol. Their egg benedict dishes are real good. My husband was pleased with their steak and cheese sandwich. I was a little surprised that there was a Vietnamese dish on the menu, but I realized who the owner was (a friend of mine's Uncle). Their Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio was decent. Since I am Vietnamese, I was expecting it to be more traditional, but I understand the change to cater to more people. There's always great service and the place is real cute.

Its decent. I came here because another establishment was very busy on a Sunday morning, it's nice and roomy. Staff are friendly and the menu isn't too complicated. I just ordered standard eggs, sausage and pancakes, all made very well but nothing spectacular.

First time at establishment. Heard good things about the place and it lived up to expectations. Place was very busy for a Saturday at 11 am. Even with; the wait was less than five minutes. Enjoyed the skillet chuck wagon and would recommend. Eggs cooked perfectly along with all the other ingredients. Server was very attentive and quick with all aspects once sat. Brand drinks food and bill all in a timely manner. If you have the chance stop by and give it a try.

Yum! I had the Lox Bennie and was treated to a pretty good Eggs Benedict with good smoke salmon. I did ask for the eggs to be poached to medium, and got over easy (I like runny yolk, but I don't like chasing it down). This is just a small thing, though, considering how hard of a time I have cooking my own eggs to over medium and not over done, AND that they were gracious with all of my silly food requests. (To them, it wasn't silly, which I appreciated!) Ok, besides me I was with an old family friend and my brother. We ended up sitting there for and extra hour talking (don't worry, we weren't those jerks holding up a table during lunch rush), but they did a fantastic job of stopping by for water and extra coffee. They didn't just leave us there once we paid our bill, like other places do. I was so pleased, I left an extra tip for keeping our fluids up. Bonus: There is plenty of space between the tables so that if you are having a good conversation, you don't feel like you are intruding on other customers.

This is an ok kinda place, it needs some attention to detail in several areas, chipped paint, gobs of dust on verticals, and restrooms need attention. I came based on previous reviews. Open your eyes people. this place could be so much better with a little elbow grease and touch ups. I had the salmon wrap, it was ok, lacking presentation. Servers were attentive but not engaging, no introduction, just ok. Customer experience left me wanting more.

Great menu and good food. The atmosphere is nice but maybe a little overdone. The service is good even though the last time I went they had a few goofs with running our credit cards. I'm sure it was a unique situation.

We've been here dozens of times and have always been impressed. Today we came at lunchtime and the place was packed. The hostess handled the crowd expertly, and the staff is always accommodating, never stressed. Our waitress apologized for the wait, but it really wasn't too bad for a Sunday at lunchtime. We were in and out and on our way within an hour. The food is always delicious. I usually get the Bandito, but this time I tried the Steak Benedict special. I often dream about their spuds - they are very addicting. The husband got the apple stuffed French toast, and our 1yo enjoyed the sausage links and cinnamon apples. They are very kid friendly so bring the tots along!

My boyfriend and I get breakfast here almost every weekend. We're always very pleased with the food and the service. Even when they're busy (we sometimes have to wait 10-15 minutes for a table on a Saturday or Sunday) the food still comes out quickly. And the coffee is so good!

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, today! I ordered the Bun Thit...(BBQ pork chop over vermicelli noodles. Nice portion of vermicelli noodles, thin chopped cucumber, shredded lettuce (could have used cilantro, shaved carrot, mint leaves) and bean sprouts. There is a finely chopped (boneless) pork chop that has been marinated in a semi-sweet/garlic seasoning. This is all served with a lil serving of flavored fish sauce. I asked for a side of the rooster sauce, to spice it up a bit. DELISH DISH!!!! I don't have to drive all the way to Madison Heights when I have the hankering for this vietnamese dish. Hubs didn't enjoy his lunch, but I warned him NOT to order CRAB CAKES from a non-seafood establishment, especially when we've had the real deal from out east. This should have been an appetizer; two, small semi-flat cakes. They had crab flavor, but they were mushy. Again, this comes from us having to die for crab-cakes while we were out East, where the crab cakes are full of lumps of crab, little breading and just melt in your mouth. These were drizzled iwth a green sauce and served with two itsy bitsy slices of toasted bread...and a a couple leaves of lettuce mix...It looked like an appetizer. It was too pricey for quality and portion/serving of items. This should have at least been offered with a salad, soup, some starch... Nancy, our waitress, was very nice and attentive. I am surprised that they weren't busier, but it was almost 2 p.m.

Amazing blackberry biscuits! This place is a great find! You must try it! We were in town for the day and saw their menu online and we were sold! It exceeded our expectations it was great!

I saw a dude holding a sign that said 'Recipes open now!' I was so excited to see Recipes opening their doors right in my backyard! They have another location out in Troy as well. This is a great breakfast/brunch joint! The restaurant was full when we got there and service was a little slow but it was definitely worth it! The coffee here is really strong which is just the way I like it! The thing I like the best about this place is the menu choices, with so many coney islands around here with a typical menu it's refreshing to actually have variety. I had the Salmon Benedict which was sooo good!

Went here one day after the breakfast club and ordered the same thing to compare. I would say that I may give the nod to this place recipes... Marginally. I prefer the menu here and would love to have time to try more. The staff was equally helpful and friendly.. The Benedict was cooked better with the muffin more toasted and crisp and the hollindaise non broken and with a better lemon flavor. However the choice to use actual salmon rather than lox or smoked salmon is a horrible mistake. Jury is still up in the air between here and breakfast club but I like the menu choices here better.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now since I've been sick of the breakfast club And I think I have found a regular breakfast spot. This place is very clean and Decor is very modern. I love the fresh rose on the table, it's a very nice touch. They have great service. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. My breakfast here was great as well. I had the southwest hash and my bf made his own omelette. My breakfast was great I love the chorizo they used and the egg was perfectly cooked. The hash was perfectly cooked. I tasted my bfs omelette and I'm glad they use real crabmeat. The ingredients were fresh and flavor was perfectly balanced. Can't wait to go back for more.

This was a great restaurant. I was expecting a typical diner; however, they had many great options! I had the bandito, which was delicious. The chorizo was great and high quality. My friend had an eggs Benedict with lox it was good but the English muffin was a little soft. The coffee and service were good too.

Solid breakfast choice. I met family halfway for both of us and Recipes fit the location . Went there at 8:45 on a Sunday morning , service was great seated and had coffee and water promptly. Tried the blueberry biscuits for a breakfast appetizer, they were great. I ordered a simple eggs, bacon, crisp potatoes and pancakes. It was perfect. I has no complaints. Good food and great service, a few bucks more then one would expect but portions were decent. I would go back for sure.

It was okay. Pro's, the omelette I had was decent, good size. The French toast was made with a bread that was pretty good but the dry cinnamon apple topping needed to be more of a syrup. Cons: the spuds are terrible. It just seemed like heated frozen potato cubes was kind of surprised they didn't do a fresh potato. The Bacon was god awful. How could you even serve it as bacon. It was paper thin, tasteless and melted as soon as it touched my tongue. Just gross.

HIGHLY OVERRATED I came here looking for something fresh and new and got an over cooked boring omelette. Based on the menu it would seem they specialize in cooking eggs and potatoes...BOTH items from here were mediocre at best, nothing to write home about. Reading their menu was a much more savory experience then actually eating the food. It was not bad per se, however it was not commensurate with the price or atmosphere in my opinion. Tip for anyone looking to try this place out: it's mediocre food at a premium price reviews/pictures here were very misleading, my experience was not similar to what's on the pictures or on these reviews, could have been because it was a busy time but it ruined the experience for me regardless. I won't take a chance on this place again.

Great food, if I knew the simple stuff I ordered (biscuts & gravy, omelette) would be as good as it was I would have tried something more daring. The salmon hash looked good, the skillet things looked good. If I'm ever back up here I'll be back.

Pretty decent breakfast but the lines can be a little long. The weekend they have special meals the French Toast they have on Saturday is awesome. The corn beef hash is some of the best I have had.

Without tasting more dishes and going at a more typical hour, I don't know if I could really give them a four or five star rating. I did really enjoy my food, and we did have a great server but the only thing that was absolutely fabulous was the dessert (apple cinnamon spring rolls!) My meal was the salmon hash, which although the server insisted was quite different from an eggs benedict, was essentially the same thing with a bed of potatoes and some fresh fruit on the side. My counterparts had the Ban Mi sandwich and Cheese Ravioli? which were both on the specials menu. I really enjoyed looking through the menu and would love to go and try a little bit of everything. I will definitely try Recipes again and hopefully raise it to a 4-5 star rating! But as of right now, not a fan. It's A-OK.

Great for breakfast of brunch. Try the Thai specials. They rock. Also had the egg dishes and biscuits. All are good. Also the staff is very nice.

Visited here twice now to confirm that the food and service weren't a fluke the first time and they weren't. The corned beef hash is one of the best I have had, the skillets are delicious, the pancakes are fluffy. Nothing I have had that I didn't like. This should be a breakfast go to.

Absolute favorite! After visiting L. George's Restaurant and Family Diner in Farmington Hills on day, and discovering that I was given a glass with lipstick smudges (therefore, the glass was unwashed) my husband and I decided to try Recipes. Fifteen visits later I guess its about time to leave a review for our weekly Saturday spot. Love the atmosphere! From the nice smiles and warm hello's which greet you the second you walk in, to the freshly cut flower placed in the quaint glass on your table, or the tablecloths which bear your waitresses name.... love this place. The food is wonderful! I have tried everything from the sticky buns (English muffin with warm cinnamon apples, cream cheese and apple butter) to the skillets served.. I have not been let down at this place. They have some of the best omelets. Amanda (who I always request) it attentive, great, personable.. and deserves a RAISE (just saying). She is great, not over bearing or annoying and always has a great attitude.

Found this lovely gem and so glad to have discovered it! I love brunch and especially enjoying it at a place with remarkable awards. I ordered from their specials menu and everything was cooked nicely and fresh.

They have good potato skillets that I like to get. The place is never overcrowded and service is good. Prices are good. I would like to try other things on the menu though next time.

This is a hidden gem. Small place in a strip mall with unique items on the menu and great prices and good portions. Perfect place for brunch. Always busy, but never have to wait long. The Staff is very friendly. Ask for "Amber" she's the BEST!

The breakfast menu is unique and everything I had was good. I had the crab mix and enjoyed it very much. The corned beef hash that my granddaughter had was different than most hashes and a little fatty. This place is better than the average bacon and eggs breakfast and is worth the visit.

If you have not been to this Resturaunt I highly recommend it. The layout is very nice and elegant but still had that family feel to it. Waitress is very friendly. But hands down I rate this establishment 5 stars because of the amazing food. The breakfest menu is awesome with so many choices to choose from. The I only complaint I have is that they did not serve tabasco hot sauce, other then that they have nailed it in every other aspect.

The BF took me here for a celebratory lunch date. I had just finished a job interview. The food was delicious. We split the blackberry biscuits to start and the were phenomenal. All warm and covered in blackberries. The BF continued with a make your own mixer, which he loved. I stole some spuds, which were yummy. I got the Pad Thai, which was one of the daily specials. It was awesome. Slightly spicy, with a great mix of peppers, noddles, egg, and chicken. The restaurant itself is cute, and rather roomy, which was nice considering most breakfast places I've been to are a little squished. All in all, the food is great, the waitress was good, and the place is nice. We'll go back. Probably more often than we should, :-)

First things first: Recipes has -- bar none -- the best coffee of any breakfast restaurant in the area! Beyond that, they also please with a unique menu, decent service and good ambiance. My husband and I have been there many times now, and we have always liked (or loved) what we've ordered. Recipes is definitely at the high end of breakfast places, price-wise, but the freshness and high quality of their food makes it worth the price.

Went there two days in a role...Sunday was very busy...service was little slow and waitstuffs seems little inexperience...see them walking around doing one thing at a time instead of they could taking care 2 or 3 tables at once..But food was AWESOME...so I went back again on Monday...It was a perfect this time. Sticky buns was amazing. Maybe its not as good as some of the good restaurants in New York (I am compare this place with New York restaurant am I being critical?). But for the price...it worth every penny! Sorry "Breakfast club" I am leaving.... we have a new kid in town "Recipes"
